ABOUT

Paz Regueiro is a writer and filmmaker in the San Francisco Bay Area. They are the creator of "My Body is a Paradise", a feature documentary about transgender people and their relationship to eroticism, sex, and pleasure. Their undergraduate thesis, titled "On Advocating Cannibalism and Eating Shit: Queer Monstrosity in the John Waters Canon" (2023), earned them the Wagner Academic Excellence Excellence Prize (UMich Department of English Language and Literature) and the Patricia Kennedy Award (UMich Honors Program). Their creative writing has been recognized twice by the Hopwood Award in Undergraduate Fiction, in 2023 and 2024.

 

Currently, Paz is a doctoral student at UC Berkeley's Department of Comparative Literature. They completed their B.A.s in English and Film, Television, and Media at the University of Michigan in the spring of 2024. Their research interests include gender and sexuality studies (particularly transgender studies), philosophy of technology (with a focus on new media/digital studies), film and media studies (especially pornography, science fiction, and horror), Romance languages and literatures (Spanish and French), and sexology.
